Recent Customized Trainings
Memphis Grizzlies (Memphis, TN)
The GrizzFit Program is at the center of the community-based initiatives run by the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. The goals of GrizzFit are to promote physical activity through obstacle course racing and circuit training, as well as to encourage alternative sports like rowing, rugby, tennis, and urban running clubs. We partner with the Grizzlies to provide coach training on creating positive relationships and culture, intentionally building sport and life competence, and managing healthy competition.
MAstery Charter School Network (Philadelphia, PA)
Mastery Charter Schools serve 1,500 students across the Greater Philadelphia area; for 2015-16, the schools are making a significant investment in their enrichment programs for students and in training teachers to run these initiatives. We are running a series of workshops for physical education teachers with a focus on designing competition for all levels, leveraging the power of sport to teach life lessons, and increasing the amount of physical activity each student gets.
Crim Fitness Foundation (Flint, MI)
We have been training public school teachers, administrators, and social workers, along with AmeriCorps members and other frontline youth workers, in Flint since 2011. Each year we run professional development days twice during the year, with a special focus on sports-based youth development (SBYD) and trauma-sensitive content as it relates to the school day. The Crim Fitness Foundation is a local leader in SBYD, and has also engaged partners like the Boys and Girls Club of Flint and Flint Community Schools.
SquashSMARTS and Lenfest Center (Philadelphia, PA)
SquashSmarts and the Lenfest Center share more than a facility in the Hunting Park community of North Philadelphia - they recently partnered to host a training about building positive program culture. The session was designed to maximize individual worktime for each organization along with best practice sharing and networking opportunities. Sharing a training with another organization is a great way to maximize time, space, and resources!
City of Miami Parks and Rec (miami, FL)
In August 2016 we once again partnered with the City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that all full-time staff are Level 3 Certified SBYD coaches. Throughout the rest of the 2016-17 school year we will be offering professional development modules to all full-time and part-time staff at the city’s park facilities.
